How to Use This Dashboard
A guide to interpreting skill demand data for career decisions.
Data Source
We aggregate job postings from 100+ tech companies using their public career pages (Greenhouse and Lever APIs). Each listing is categorized into one of 6 domains and analyzed for skill mentions using a curated taxonomy of 120+ technical skills.
Data refreshes daily. The dashboard currently covers Data, Engineering, Product, DevOps, Security and AI/ML roles.
Reading the Numbers
- Demand % — The proportion of active job listings that mention a given skill. A skill at 45% appears in nearly half of all postings in that category.
- Est. Listings — Absolute count of listings requiring that skill, derived from demand % and total active listings.
- Market Share — This category's share of all tracked job listings across all 6 categories.
- Role Distribution — Breakdown of normalized job titles within the category. Useful for understanding hiring patterns and career paths.

FAQ
Why is Python so dominant in Data roles?
Python is the de facto standard for data science, analytics and ML. Its ecosystem (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn) makes it essential for data work.
Should I learn every skill in the top 10?
No. Build depth in 3-5 core skills rather than shallow knowledge across many. Use this data to identify which specializations are most valuable.
Can I download this data?
CSV and PDF exports are available in the Pro tier. The free dashboard is view-only.
